My interest in electronics recycling began when I noticed that many of my friends had old phones and tablets that still worked but were no longer being used. Most planned to throw them away eventually, and I knew there had to be a better solution. I joined my older brother, who was volunteering with the Electronics Recycling Association (ERA), and together we co-founded the Earthly Bros, a youth-led environmental initiative dedicated to collecting used electronics for refurbishment and responsible recycling.

I continue volunteering with the ERA and organize community electronics collection events through partnerships with local libraries and other organizations. Since launching our library program, our collections have increased by more than 50%. Together, Earthly Bros collected more than 350 devices last year and was recognized as the #1 donor team in Canada to ERA.

In 2025, I was honoured to receive a Certificate of Recognition from the City of Richmond Hill for my volunteer work.

On my Recycling with Sam website, I share my volunteer activities, upcoming collection events, and ideas to encourage other young people to make a positive difference in their communities. My goal is to continue this work throughout high school and university while helping more youth discover that even small actions can create lasting environmental impact.
